A total of ten local schools from the Long Beach and Bellflower Unified School districts were named 2006 California Distinguished Schools (Press-Telegram).
Schools with aspirations for this award went through a vigorous application and interview process. The initial application had to be filled with specific details concerning school wide programs that distinguished the school from the rest of the state. The smallest details of process, teacher availability and effort were key details in recognized applications.
The interviews were conducted by various principals and administrators from other schools and districts across the state of CA. School administrators, teachers and staff were interviewed separately.
An employee from the BUSD described the schools reinforcement of the classroom.
“Our principal is enthusiastic and always looking for more ways to educate. She has given English-Learners the opportunity to come in before school and use the computer program The Rosetta Stone ®.” |
